Privacy Policy — Gmail Cleaner

Gmail Cleaner ("the extension", "we", "our") is a Chrome browser extension that helps you identify, review, and optionally move old promotional emails in your Gmail inbox to Trash. This policy explains exactly what data the extension accesses, how it uses that data, and how it is protected.

1. Data We Access

The extension requests access to your Gmail account via the Gmail REST API (scope: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.modify). Specifically, it reads and optionally writes:

• Message IDs matching the promotional email query you select.
• The Subject, From, and other classification-relevant headers (such as List-Unsubscribe and Precedence), plus the sizeEstimate field, for a sample of up to 500 messages per scan.
• If you choose to trash emails: the extension moves selected messages to Gmail Trash by adding the TRASH label. No email content is read during this operation — only the message IDs fetched during scanning are used.

No message bodies, attachments, or recipients are ever read or requested.

2. Data Storage and Transmission

All processing happens locally in your browser. Email metadata retrieved during a scan is held in memory only for the duration of the scan and is discarded immediately afterward. No email data is ever written to disk, sent to a server, or shared with any third party.

The only items stored persistently (in chrome.storage.local on your device) are:

• Your first-install timestamp (used to calculate the 14-day free trial window).
• Your Pro license key, if you choose to activate one (stored locally; never transmitted except to the LemonSqueezy license validation API to verify its validity).
• The timestamp of the most recent successful license validation (to avoid unnecessary repeat checks).

3. OAuth Token

Gmail Cleaner uses the Chrome Identity API (chrome.identity.getAuthToken) to obtain an OAuth 2.0 access token from Google. This token is used only to authorise Gmail API requests made locally within the extension. The token is never sent to any server operated by us.

4. License Validation (Pro Users)

If you purchase a Pro license, the extension sends your license key to the LemonSqueezy license validation API (https://api.lemonsqueezy.com/v1/licenses/validate) to verify that the key is valid and active. No Gmail data or personal information is included in this request. LemonSqueezy's own privacy policy governs how they handle this request.

5. No Analytics, No Advertising

The extension contains no analytics code, no tracking pixels, no advertising SDKs, and no crash-reporting libraries. We do not collect usage statistics of any kind.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share any data with third parties. The only external service contacted is the LemonSqueezy API for license key validation, as described in Section 4.

7. Permissions Explained

The extension declares the following permissions:

• identity — to obtain a Google OAuth token for Gmail API access.
• storage — to save the install date and license key locally on your device.
• https://www.googleapis.com/* — to call the Gmail REST API for scanning (read) and optionally trashing emails (modify).
• https://api.lemonsqueezy.com/* — to validate Pro license keys.

8. Children's Privacy

This extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 years of age.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we materially change this privacy policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and publish the updated version in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing.

10. Google API Services — Limited Use Disclosure

Gmail Cleaner's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

• Data obtained from Google APIs is used only to provide and improve the in-extension features described in this policy.
• Google user data is never transferred to third parties except as necessary to provide the extension's features (i.e., Gmail API calls made on your behalf).
• Google user data is never used for advertising purposes.
• Humans do not read your Gmail data unless required to comply with applicable law or you explicitly request support assistance.
